Review & Giveaway from Little One Books: Books, Music, and Video Chosen with Care CLOSED

As parents there is a never ending supply of products out there for our children. However not all of the options out there are good for them. Let's face it - watching movies is fun but the actual movie may not always be developmentally appropriate for our kids. It can be a bit challenging to determine which movies, music, and books are actually okay for children. I know that in our house, simply because we have a six-year-old and a three-year-old, Princess A is watching movies that we would have probably deemed inappropriate for Mr. C when he was that age. Additionally, when it comes to movies, times have really changed from when we were children. Not only has the rating system changed but what is deemed appropriate for children by film makers for children's movies has also changed.

This is why it was especially happy when I learned about Little One Books.  Little One Books was developed and is owned by grandparents.  Their goal?  Simple. To hand select and review books, videos, and music products that they think make a meaningful difference in a little child's world.  I mean...truly, how can you not just love a mission as sound as that?

They have products arranged by category for birth-12 months, one-year-olds, two-year-olds, three-year-olds, four-year-olds, and five-year-olds. For each age range that they recommend products for, they subdivide it by music, books, videos, and bundle content. Additionally they provide a brief description about why they chose that product!  They provide first-hand examples and related the products to their own lives and the special people in their lives.  Their site is easy to navigate, allowing even those who may be a bit timid around computers to find products with ease.  This is especially nice for grandparents who simply want to find some products for when their grandchildren come to visit.

Little One Books was kind enough to send our family a video. Honestly, it was a hard choice as they have so many great products to choose from.  However, my childhood memories came flooding back and I confidently chose the video "Corduroy...and more stories about caring".  Our children have read the book and really enjoyed them so I was excited to see their reaction to seeing the story come to life.

"Corduroy...and more stories about caring" is a read along DVD, which is great for both of our kiddos. Though Mr. C is reading chapter books, it is fascinating to see him make connections between writing, reading, and crafting his own stories. This DVD contains seven stories that the children enjoy watching over and over.

For parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and care takers, Little One Books provides you with a safe place to shop.  A safe place whose products have been through the grandparent test and whose "test results" are transparent in their product descriptions.  To be honest, I find this business approach rather refreshing.

If you are searching for products for your children, nieces, nephews, or grandchildren, Little One Books offers a great selection of products.  Their site is wonderful in helping people select birthday or Christmas presents or simply items to have on hand when little ones visit your house.

I LOVE this review and that site! Thank you so much for introducing me to it! If I were to have my choice, I would start with Hand Hand Fingers Thumb. :) My cousin lent us that book for bedtime when we stayed at her house and Sean cried when I had to take it back to them. ;)
